Well-backed late, Gallant Hero weaved his run from last 300m out to get the bob and defeat firming favourite Strongest Boy. He brushed off his first-up dirt 1,650m ninth from gate 14 to register his fourth win from his past five starts. Strongest Boy did everything right but get the win after travelling worse than midfield and poking his head in front 50m from home. He is a winner waiting to happen. To Infinity finished nicely to fill a placing after settling fourth last from his tricky gate. He was fitter second up after his OK effort last month. Master Toronado found a few too good after racing prominently and hitting the lead 200m out. He is not far off a bottom. Amazing Boy made some ground after his rail run in midfield. He prefers a wet track. Beauty Mission finished the next best after exiting the final bend one from the rear. He failed to overcome his wide draw and rise in weight. Dirt specialist Lucky Banner stalked the pace outside late-fancied M M Nebula, shot to the front 300m out but retreated in the home straight. M M Nebula did not handle going up in grade.

Horse No 1 GALLANT HERO (E480) B Avdulla From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 SUPER BABY (G364) L Ferraris Approaching the 50 Metres GALLANT HERO (B Avdulla) shifted to the inside of MASTER TORNADO to secure clear running and then lay in whilst being ridden along, resulting in MASTER TORNADO shifting in, crowding BEAUTY MISSION in onto LUCKY BANNER, resulting in SUPER BABY having to be steadied away from the heels of AMAZING BOY.

B Avdulla was severely reprimanded.

In assessing penalty, the Stewards found that GALLANT HERO had lay in and whilst B Avdulla had attempted to straighten his mount, he should have stopped riding with the whip in those circumstances.

Horse No 4 GALLANT GOODY (H434) M F Poon Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 5 LUCKY BANNER (G354) L Currie When questioned regarding the performance, L Currie stated that he was obliged to make use of his mount in the early stages to go forward to avoid racing wide.

He said when M M NEBULA did not improve into the race, LUCKY BANNER was left in front a long way from the finish and after making the Home Turn awkwardly gave ground in the Home Straight although his mount was crowded near the 50 Metres.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 BEAUTY MISSION (G098) M Chadwick Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Approaching the 300 Metres was held up for clear running behind AMAZING BOY.

Horse No 8 STRONGEST BOY (H027) Z Purton Slow to begin.

Horse No 9 SHINKANSEN (H277) K De Melo From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Lay in in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 10 HAPPY HUNK (H101) K C Leung Near the 200 Metres was momentarily crowded by TO INFINITY which shifted in.

Horse No 11 TO INFINITY (G277) L Hewitson Shortly after the start was crowded and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Lay in in the early part of the Home Straight.

Horse No 12 M M NEBULA (G279) Y L Chung Near the 200 Metres, when commencing to give ground, was hampered when crowded by SUPER BABY which was taken in by LUCKY BANNER before LUCKY BANNER was corrected by its rider L Currie.

After the race, Apprentice Y L Chung reported that his mount was pressured in the lead in the early stages and as a result M M NEBULA found it difficult to finish the race off.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous starts.

Before being allowed to race again, M M NEBULA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
