Racing Incident Report
Race Three: (58) - SHANGHAI HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
GALAXY PATCH was slow to begin and then over-raced in the early and middle stages.
WINDICATOR FAMILY jumped awkwardly.
Rounding the Home Turn near the 500 Metres, CALL ME DANDY endeavoured to shift out to obtain clear running and in doing so bumped with NORTHERN BEACHES, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced.
On straightening, ARMOUR EAGLE was held up for clear running until approaching the 200 Metres when it was then able to be put under pressure.
GALAXY PATCH was held up for clear running after passing the 400 Metres before shifting to the outside of NABOO LEGEND approaching the 200 Metres to obtain clear running.
The performance of SAKEWIN was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, SAKEWIN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial in Hong Kong and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of SAKEWIN immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
L Ferraris (WINDICATOR FAMILY) was warned for using his whip on his mount when it was out of contention.
After the race, both A Atzeni (BEAUTY CRESCENT) and Z Purton (NABOO LEGEND) could offer no explanation for their mounts' disappointing performance.
A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY CRESCENT and NABOO LEGEND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Also after the race, CALL ME DANDY was found to have blood in its mouth.
CALL ME DANDY, GALAXY PATCH and NORTHERN BEACHES were sent for sampling.

Galaxy Patch showed a good turn of foot to mow down Northern Beaches in the final few strides from near last after a tardy start for a smart debut win in Hong Kong. He's still green but is now perfect in two outings after winning his lone start in Australia and his future is very bright. Northern Beaches did everything right but get the win after shooting to the front 300m out following a one-out, one-back run. He'll be saluting shortly after placings in three of his past four starts. Favourite Call Me Dandy just held his ground after getting all favours in the box seat. He's gone all right in both starts this term. Armour Eagle ran on steadily to fill the frame from midfield. He's given a decent sight in runs once at each track this term but prefer him at the Valley. California Vanes made some ground after making his run one off from midfield. He doesn't disgrace at this level but is clearly better in Class Four. Joyful Friendship ran on without threatening from behind midfield. It was a shade better run first-up this term. Naboo Legend had nothing to offer over the final 200m after a pace-stalking run. He needed the outing.
