Racing Incident Report
Race Nine: (749) - WINDY GAP HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1650Meters
SUNNY STAR blundered on jumping, became unbalanced and lost ground.
BERLIN TANGO was crowded at the start by WINNING DRAGON which shifted out.
ATULLIBIGEAL was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
From the outside barrier, SAVAQUIN was also shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
BOURBONAIRE lost its left front plate near the 1300 Metres.
Making the turn near the 1100 Metres, EVERYONE'S DELIGHT brushed the running rail.
Near the 700 Metres, ATULLIBIGEAL was steadied away from MR ASCENDENCY when that runner gave ground after being steadied away from WINNING DRAGON.
Passing the 300 Metres, K Teetan (WINNING DRAGON) dropped his left rein for a short distance.
ENCOUNTERED raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
After the race, M Dee (ATULLIBIGEAL) stated that making the turn near the 1100 Metres his mount became awkward when racing tight to the inside of BOURBONAIRE.
He added again making the turn near the 600 Metres ATULLIBIGEAL was awkwardly placed on the heels of SAVAQUIN and, in his opinion, did not appreciate racing around the Happy Valley circuit.
A veterinary inspection of ATULLIBIGEAL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Also after the race, L Hewitson (ORIENTAL SMOKE) reported that he was instructed to take up an on-pace position, but when asked for an effort in the Straight his mount failed to respond and gave ground.
He added that it was identified following the race that ORIENTAL SMOKE had its tongue over the bit.
A veterinary inspection of ORIENTAL SMOKE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of BOURBONAIRE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
ENCOUNTERED and THE IRISHMAN were sent for sampling.

Encountered rang up his fourth win from five starts over 1,650m at Happy Valley. He won with plenty in hand despite enduring a wide trip without cover and working to the lead 400m out. Favourite The Irishman ran on steadily to finish a clear-cut second following his box-seat run. It was a good effort under 135 pounds. Winning Dragon won the battle for third after his one-out, one-back run. He is holding his form well despite rising in class. Sunny Star stayed on all right from midfield to fill the frame. He enjoyed returning to his favourite Happy Valley mile course. Savaquin did his best work late near the outside after a patient ride two from the rear. Cheerful Day ran on reasonably well from the rear of the field. He requires a stronger tempo. Mr Ascendency made a mild bid from midfield. He has been disappointing four times across both tracks since his 1,400m triumph in January. Atullibigeal suffered interference in running and could not get going from near the rear when the race became serious. He finished ninth, almost ten lengths adrift of the winner.
