Firming favourite Adefill just wore down Adios after a wide trip better than midfield to ring up a third straight win despite a rise in class following a move to sprinting on the all-weather track. He remains one to follow on this surface. Adios nearly stole the race after quickly finding the front from gate three. The switch to dirt nearly worked the oracle. Man Star finished a non-threatening third after a pace-stalking run. He's always a chance over this surface and trip. Captain Win ran on reasonably well to snatch fourth from behind midfield on the fence. He's gone all right in both starts on this surface. Lightning Bolt just miss the frame after a wide with cover trip from midfield. Super King finished next best after a box seat run. It was a much better effort trying the dirt 1,200m for the first time. Elon ran on without menacing after a patient ride third last from a wide draw. Fiery Diamond was a non-factor after getting posted four wide for a good part towards the rear from a wide draw. Street Scream never got into the act from near the rear. He's a turf horse.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (472) - SOMERSET HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

FLYING DRAGON, which was fractious in the barriers, was slow to begin.

SUPER KING jumped awkwardly.

In the early stages, ELON over-raced and for some distance near the 800 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of STREET SCREAM.

ADEFILL raced wide and without cover from the 800 Metres.

After the race, C L Chau stated that the intention was to hold a more forward position on FIERY DIAMOND, but despite being ridden along in the early stages, the horse did not show the necessary pace to do so.

A veterinary inspection of FIERY DIAMOND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Also after the race, M Chadwick reported that, in his opinion, STREET SCREAM is better suited racing at the Happy Valley circuit.
