Racing Incident Report
Race Seven: (99) - GIRARD-PERREGAUX EXCELLENT HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters
BORN THE SAME DAY began only fairly.
From wide barriers, LUCK STAR and ADEFILL were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
KUNG FU TEA was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Shortly after the start, SMILING CITY got its head up and travelled keenly and throughout the race travelled wide and without cover.
IRON WILL travelled keenly approaching the 1200 Metres.
After the 1000 Metres, UNIVERSAL HORIZON was left racing wide and without cover.
After the 600 Metres, MIGHTY STAR got its head on the side and lay out.
COPARTNER ERA was unable to obtain clear running for the majority of the Home Straight and because of this was not able to be properly tested.
Approaching the 300 Metres, MIGHTY STAR was brushed by IRON WILL which got its head on the side and shifted out away from KUNG FU TEA.
Passing the 250 Metres, M Chadwick (PEAK TO PEAK) dropped his right rein.
Over about the final 75 Metres, CIRCUIT MIGHTY was held up for clear running and because of this was not able to be ridden out to the end of the race.
A veterinary inspection of UNIVERSAL HORIZON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SWEET ENCOUNTER and BLISSFUL STAR were sent for sampling.

Sweet Encounter worked hard to track the leader from a wide draw, worked to the front 250m out and kept on gamely to just beat favourite Blissful Star to remain perfect in two starts. He's still improving. Blissful Star had his chance after a prominent run on the fence but couldn't peg back the winner. He's a winner waiting to happen. Speed Fay Fay stayed on well to finish a close third chasing the speed one off in third. It was a return to form following a stable change. Long-time leader Circuit Mighty found a second wind to finish a respectable fourth despite looking a beaten runner passing the 300m. It was another honest effort. Adefill weaved a run late near the inside to finish next best ridden for luck at the rear form gate 13. He's shown flashes of ability in his four starts and can bob up at any moment. Peak To Peak produced a grinding effort after a wide without cover trip in midfield. It was a pleasing first run for the term. Luck Star made some ground without menacing near the inside after biding his time three from the rear. Universal Horizon was never better than four deep in the run behind midfield the entire trip.
