Racing Incident Report
Race Two: (85) - POTTINGER HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1000Meters
SPLIT OF A SECOND was slow to begin and then was hampered by DAY DAY RICH which shifted out.
PRINCE OF BON BON shifted out on jumping and brushed DIAMOND SOARS.
DIAMOND SOARS then shifted out away from PRINCE OF BON BON, resulting in CARRY THE DIAMOND (L Ferraris) losing ground when crowded for room inside SUPER KINGDOM which became unbalanced when bumped by CARRY THE DIAMOND.
After the race, L Ferraris reported that it was intended for CARRY THE DIAMOND to be ridden in a forward position tonight, however, after losing ground as a result of being crowded at the start, he elected to shift his mount across behind runners and obtain cover rather than pursue a forward position.
This resulted in CARRY THE DIAMOND racing much further back in the field tonight than had been anticipated.
After this, SUPER KINGDOM was shifted across behind runners.
From the outside barrier, THIS IS GUTS was also steadied on jumping and shifted across behind runners.
Approaching the 800 Metres, GOODMANSHIP raced tight inside ALLOY KING which got its head on the side and shifted out away from DIAMOND SOARS despite the efforts of its rider.
ALLOY KING got its head on the side and lay out making the turn after the 500 Metres.
For some distance approaching the 400 Metres, SPLIT OF A SECOND raced close to the heels of DAY DAY RICH.
RAGING BLAZE was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and approaching the 200 Metres bumped ALLOY KING when being directed to the outside of GOODMANSHIP.
After this, RAGING BLAZE and ALLOY KING raced tight as RAGING BLAZE continued to shift out to obtain clear running.
When ALLOY KING was taken out by RAGING BLAZE, this resulted in PRINCE OF BON BON being inconvenienced approaching the 100 Metres.
Throughout the race, HAPPY FAT CAT travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of DAY DAY RICH immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, DAY DAY RICH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of ALLOY KING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
DAY DAY RICH, HANDSOME REBEL and HAPPY FAT CAT were sent for sampling.

Plunged late, Handsome Rebel bolted in after shooting to the front 150m out following his pace-stalking run from his wide gate. He rung up only his second Hong Kong win from 41 starts in the city and gave first successes this season to Jamie Richards and Victor Wong Chun. Happy Fat Cat stayed on well to get the bob for second after travelling wide forward of midfield from gate 11. It was his best run to date, appreciating stepping down in distance after misfiring over 1,200m last month. Raging Blaze finished strongly to just miss second after getting held up early in the straight. He keeps promising but cannot produce that elusive win. Diamond Soars faded gradually after working to the lead from gate seven. He has given a decent sight in both of his 1,000m outings from three starts this term. Goodmanship made a steady bid to just finish out of the frame after his one-off-the-fence run better than midfield. He is crying out for longer. Favourite Day Day Rich found little when push came to shove after his box-seat run. He is a bleeder and not one to trust at short odds. Split Of A Second never landed a blow after travelling midfield following his sluggish start. He usually takes a few runs to get going.
