Recap by phillip woo
Early favourite Woodfire Bro was caught wide without cover better than midfield as the complexion of the race changed 900m out but still produced a determined effort to wear down Yes We Can in the dying stages for a second career win and first on this surface from eight starts. He's still got room to head higher. Yes We Can nearly stole the race after circling the field 900m out from midfield to lead 800m out. It was a solid effort first start after a suspensory injury. Late-fancied Righteous Doctrine ran on steadily from midfield to fill a placing. He can produce an odd good run now and then on either surface. Punted late Toycoon had to settle a non-threatening fourth after chasing the speed one off the fence. He appeared to need the outing. Flying Silver got going late to nearly fill the frame after making his run two from the rear. It was a better effort with a switch to the dirt. Smoothies ran on without menacing from near last. He has been out of form but is well rated on some past exploits. Lady First didn't do much after making his run at the rear of the field. He's disappointed in both starts for his new trainer this season.
