Racing Incident Report
Race Five: (744) - SHEUNG YEUNG SHAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters
Whilst parading behind the barriers, JACK WIN made contact with a rail.
JACK WIN was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.
FORTUNE PRESIDENT and COMMON ROOM bumped heavily on jumping, causing both horses to become badly unbalanced and lose ground.
SMART FOLKS shifted out at the start and bumped CIRCUIT MIGHTY.
After this, CIRCUIT MIGHTY was ridden along for some distance to obtain a forward position and throughout the race travelled wide and without cover.
From a wide barrier, DAZZLING FELLOW was steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After travelling a short distance, ALL IS GOOD shifted in and brushed BEAUTY NOVA.
Approaching the 1100 Metres, COMMON ROOM was steadied away from the heels of STUNNING IMPACT which shifted in.
At the same time, COMMON ROOM was bumped on the hindquarters by LIFELINE VISION which was taken in by ALL IS GOOD which was bumped by JACK WIN as a result of JACK WIN having to be steadied away from the heels of AMIGOS GIGGLE (A Badel) which shifted in when not properly clear.
After being bumped by JACK WIN, ALL IS GOOD shifted in away from that horse.
A Badel was severely reprimanded and advised that whilst there were some circumstances to this incident, nonetheless he must ensure that he is properly clear of other runners when shifting ground.
After the 900 Metres, JACK WIN was left racing wide and without cover.
LEATHER VANGUARD lay out under pressure in the early part of the Straight.
Near the 350 Metres, GOOD NEWS was awkwardly placed behind CIRCUIT MIGHTY after being disappointed for running to the outside of that horse and inside AMIGOS GIGGLE.
GOOD NEWS was then bumped by BEAUTY NOVA passing the 300 Metres as that horse shifted out away from STUNNING IMPACT.
After the race, V Borges (SMART FOLKS) stated that, in his opinion, the horse was not able to finish the race off over the latter stages due to the amount of work he had to do in the run to the first turn to obtain a forward position from a wide barrier.
A veterinary inspection of SMART FOLKS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Also after the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on COMMON ROOM at the request of Trainer C S Shum.
The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, COMMON ROOM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of CIRCUIT MIGHTY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
LEATHER VANGUARD and STUNNING IMPACT were sent for sampling.

Favourite Leather Vanguard just held on after rushing to the front 250m out following a handy run along the inside. He lived up to an eye-catching debut in a good form race in December and the future is promising. Stunning Impact ran on nicely travelling behind midfield along the inside to make it close on the wire. He's honest and was able to backup a win last start carrying seven pounds more. Lifeline Vision came from near last and near the outside to finish a close third. It was a return to form but he is well rated. All Is Good ran on reasonably well to fill the frame after biding his time five back and two off the fence with cover from a middle gate. He's naturally coming to hand in his three starts. Amigos Giggle just held his ground after slotting one off better than midfield from a wide draw. Prefer him in Class Five. Double Show had no more to offer inside the last 100m after finding the front 350m out chasing the leader on the fence. He didn't quite see out the 1,400m. Dazzling Fellow made some ground four from the right after drifting back to last from a wide draw. He's shown flashes of ability in his four starts.
