Recap by phillip woo

Super Win Dragon drew clear 100m out after a wide run better than midfield for a well-deserved win at his 15th start. He had been knocking on the door all season long and could remain competitive up in grade off a light weight on this surface. Firming favourite E Brother did everything right but get the win after hitting the front 200m out following a one-out, one-back run. He's a winner waiting to happen. The Best Hero ran on well to grab third 50m out after getting dragged back to have two behind him at the head of the straight. He rarely produces a bad race. Lady First made heaps of ground down the outside from last to fill the frame. It was a good run carrying nine pounds more following a win. Happy Tango weakened 50m out after moving to the front near the 300m following a pace-stalking run. The big weight took its toll in the end. Ahead A Head came up one-paced after a prominent run. He's gone all right in back-to-back runs on the dirt and might be worth keeping safe next time out in Class Five. Smart Folks had an excuse after getting no closer than four wide travelling behind midfield from gate 12.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (725) - RACING TALENT TRAINING CENTRE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

TOUCH FAITH shifted out at the start, resulting in SUPER WIN DRAGON being crowded for room inside SUPER CLASS which became unbalanced after being bumped by SUPER WIN DRAGON.

From a wide barrier, WISDOM PATCH was shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.

Despite being ridden along for some distance in the early stages, SMART FOLKS failed to muster speed and throughout the race travelled wide and without cover.

Approaching the 800 Metres, THE BEST HERO was awkwardly placed behind CELESTIAL STEED as that horse was steadied to obtain cover behind E BROTHER.

Passing the 800 Metres, TOUCH FAITH raced tight between THE BEST HERO which shifted out away from the heels of CELESTIAL STEED and PROSPEROUS WIN (R Maia) which shifted in.

Then making the turn near the 650 Metres, TOUCH FAITH lost ground when crowded for room between THE BEST HERO which was racing tight outside CELESTIAL STEED and PROSPEROUS WIN.

Based on the available evidence, the Stewards were not able to properly ascertain the extent of the respective shifts of PROSPEROUS WIN and THE BEST HERO in the incident and accordingly no further action was taken.

However, R Maia was told to ensure that he leaves comfortable racing room for his fellow riders.

Approaching the 500 Metres, WISDOM PATCH was checked away from the heels of AHEAD A HEAD and near the 150 Metres shifted in away from that horse.

WISDOM PATCH was then eased away from the heels of AHEAD A HEAD near the 100 Metres when that horse shifted in.

When questioned regarding the performance of PROSPEROUS WIN, R Maia stated that at no stage of the race did PROSPEROUS WIN travel as strongly as it did at its first start when the horse finished the race off well.

He said he was always required to niggle at PROSPEROUS WIN in an endeavour to have the horse travel and maintain its position.

He said after having to race wide in the early and middle stages, PROSPEROUS WIN came under pressure rounding the Home Turn and then when placed under pressure did not close the race off.

A veterinary inspection of PROSPEROUS WIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of PROSPEROUS WIN, which finished towards the tail of the field, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, PROSPEROUS WIN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of WISDOM PATCH immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm and also found it to be a "roarer??which had previously been reported.

Before being allowed to race again, WISDOM PATCH will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

SUPER WIN DRAGON and E BROTHER were sent for sampling.
