Racing Incident Report
Race Five: (686) - RIVER VERDON HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
TEAM SPIRIT shifted in at the start and bumped EIGHT TRIGRAMS.
YOUNG LIFE FOREVER began awkwardly.
READY TO WIN began only fairly and then was shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.
POWER KOEPP was also shifted across behind runners from the outside barrier in the early stages.
Then after the 1000 Metres, POWER KOEPP commenced to travel keenly and got its head up when being steadied to obtain cover behind KASA PAPA.
Shortly after the start, HIGH CLOUD shifted out and bumped GREAT BRILLIANT which in turn shifted out and bumped KASA PAPA.
Despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages, IGNITING failed to muster speed and for the majority of the race travelled wide and without cover.
Approaching the 300 Metres, POWER KOEPP was brushed by CLASSIC POSH as that horse improved to the outside of KASA PAPA.
Near the 50 Metres, FLYING DRAGON raced tight inside the heels of SUPER DOBBIN.
Passing the winning post, SUPER DOBBIN was awkwardly placed inside the heels of IGNITING.
For this reason, SUPER DOBBIN was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race.
After the race, K Teetan stated that FLYING DRAGON was one-paced when placed under pressure in the early part of the Straight and because of this the horse was not able to quicken into running which was available passing the 300 Metres between SUPER DOBBIN and TEAM SPIRIT.
He said because of this FLYING DRAGON was not able to obtain clear running over the concluding stages and, in his opinion, FLYING DRAGON's run was better than it first appeared.
A veterinary inspection of FLYING DRAGON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

POWER KOEPP, STAR BRITE and CLASSIC POSH were sent for sampling.

Star Brite held on gamely after hitting the front 120m out after slotting one-off in midfield for the win with a return to Sha Tin after a success two outings earlier at the Valley. He'll remain in the grade and could win again. Classic Posh just out-dashed Ready To Win for second after a patient ride two from the rear. He can produce an odd good run over this Sha Tin trip. Ready To Win came on late down the outside to finish a close third ridden for luck at the rear from an awkward gate. It was another honest effort. Igniting stayed on well to get the head down for fourth without menacing the top three after wide without cover run better than midfield. This was a good effort and he'll be hard to beat with a return to his favourite Valley 1,200m. Team Spirit just failed to hold onto a quartet spot after working hard to share the lead outside with Eight Trigrams from a wide draw. He rarely produces a bad run over this trip especially in this grade. Favourite Power Koepp wasn't far away in the end with a move two from the right after a four-wide run behind midfield from the widest draw. He had an excuse.
