Recap by phillip woo
Raging favourite Golden Sixty took control 200m out when only asked for a response 300m out following a prominent run on the fence to improve his record to 21 wins from 23 starts. He's clearly the best horse in town. California Spangle was given every chance in front by Zac Purton, but was no match for the winner. It was nevertheless a great run at level weights. Excellent Proposal kept plugging away to just take third after ranging up four deep rounding the final bend with a move from towards the rear 950m out. It was another honest effort. Champion's Way came from near the rear to just miss a placing. He's racing well at the moment but does find it tough at set weights. More Than This ran on without menacing after a patient ride near last along the inside. He's been off his game in recent runs. Waikuku had nothing to offer when the race got serious following a handy run outside the winner. He appears to need a break.
