Racing Incident Report
Race Six: (128) - TIN HA SHAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
THUNDERSTRIKE shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of BLOTTING PAPER.
AMAZING TEENS was crowded for room on jumping between HANDSOME REBEL which shifted out and BORDER CONTROL which shifted in after beginning awkwardly.
For a short distance after this, HANDSOME REBEL and AMAZING TEENS bumped on a number of occasions, causing both horses to become unbalanced.
LUCKY RUBY began only fairly and then was crowded for room between POISED TO STRIKE and YOUNG THUNDER which shifted out.
This resulted in LUCKY RUBY losing ground and racing back in the field.
JADE THEATRE shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of GOLFMAN STAR which became unbalanced.
Then from a wide barrier, JADE THEATRE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the 800 Metres, EIGHT TRIGRAMS was left racing wide and without cover.
When being ridden along approaching the first turn near the 700 Metres, BLOTTING PAPER became unbalanced of its own accord.
At the entrance to the Straight, AMAZING TEENS got its head on the side and lay in towards the heels of POISED TO STRIKE.
A veterinary inspection of BORDER CONTROL and SUNNY DELIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of BLOTTING PAPER immediately following the race found that horse to have a continuous displacement of the soft palate.
SUNNY DELIGHT, THUNDERSTRIKE and JADE THEATRE were sent for sampling.

In a race run to suit the back-markers, Thunderstrike closed strongly to grab victory 80m out despite showing no gate speed travelling fourth last from gate one. He appears to have found his niche on the dirt in blinkers for the first time. Jade Theatre came on nicely widest out from towards the rear to finish a close second. He had been hitting the line well in his opening two starts. Lucky Ruby came from last at the head of the straight to make it a blanket finish on the wire. It was a return to form after disappointing in his past four starts. Golfman Star was swamped late after surging to the front 300m out tracking the leader Border Control from the widest gate. It was a good effort after a tough run. Punted late Eight Trigrams kept on all right travelling prominent without cover from a middle draw. It was another honest effort. Sunny Delight just held his ground after a wide with cover run fore of midfield from a wide draw. He had an excuse. Handsome Rebel came up one-paced when asked for an effort following a rail run in midfield. He needed the run after a 115-day break. Newcomer Border Control was stopping 250m out after emerging with the lead 950m out. He'll need more time and experience.
