Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (72) - THE NATIONAL DAY CUP (HANDICAP) - Class G3 - 1000Meters
BEAUTY APPLAUSE was withdrawn on 30.9.21 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (left front tendon injury) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter LUCKY MORE (H N Wong).
Before being allowed to race again, BEAUTY APPLAUSE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
WISHFUL THINKER began only fairly.
VOYAGE WARRIOR lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and began awkwardly.
VALIANT DREAM shifted out at the start and inconvenienced SUPER WEALTHY.
STRONGER and LUCKY PATCH bumped at the start.
EXPLOSIVE WITNESS and PING HAI BRAVO were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the 600 Metres, STRONGER was shifted to the inside of VALIANT DREAM when disappointed for running between that horse and LUCKY PATCH.
Passing the 400 Metres, SKY FIELD was held up for clear running and after this was shifted in a number of horses to obtain clear running.
When SKY FIELD was shifted in, WISHFUL THINKER was eased away from the heels of that horse passing the 300 Metres.
Near the 150 Metres, VOYAGE WARRIOR raced tight inside STRONGER which shifted to the inside of SUPER WEALTHY to obtain clear running.
Approaching the 50 Metres, Apprentice C L Chau (LUCKY PATCH) dropped his left rein.
A Badel (SUPER WEALTHY) was fined $5,000 for weighing in 2 lbs overweight after the race.
A veterinary inspection of COMPUTER PATCH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
LUCKY PATCH, SUPER WEALTHY and SKY FIELD were sent for sampling.

Punted late Super Wealthy kept on gamely after hitting the front 150m out following a midfield run in the centre of the track to remain unbeaten twice over this course and distance for his new trainer this season. He relished the light weight but is living up to expectations now. Sky Field rallied nicely to finish a close second after switching from the stands side to the far side for a clear run 300m out following a patient ride towards the rear. It was a huge effort carrying top weight and he'll be a force to be reckoned with over a longer trip. Post-time favourite Lucky Patch just edged early public choice Stronger for third following a handy run. It was a good run trying the straight 1,000m for the first time but prefer him over a longer trip. Stronger ran on steadily to just miss a placing travelling better than midfield near the stands side. It was another honest effort. Hong Kong Win plugged away without ever looking a threat travelling fore of midfield near the far side. He wasn't good enough to be performing seven pounds outside his handicap. Valiant Dream weakened after sharing the lead. He was badly handicapped. Computer Patch tamely faded after vying for the lead. He needed the run.
