Favourite Harmony N Blessed never looked back after making his own luck in front from gate three to break the track record and ring up a third career win after a solid first campaign. He has the tools to win again in this grade. Heart Conquered stayed on well to edge Harmony Fire for second after chasing the speed one off the fence. He has trouble winning but backed up a near win 14 days back. Harmony Fire kept on one-paced over the last 100m to finish third after prompting the early pace along the fence. He returned with a pleasing performance after a stellar first campaign. Brilliant Life ran on well from midfield to add some value to the quartet. He's returned an improved runner at just his second local start and is looking for a longer trip. Jazz Steed ran on without menacing after biding his time last from a wide draw. It was an OK effort with a return to Class Three after a win 14 days back. Gunnison ran on steadily without ever looking a threat travelling fourth last. He prefers the dirt but is beyond his better days. Hong Kong Bet was retreating 100m out after a prominent run on the fence. He'll have to head back to the drawing board after misfiring here for his new trainer.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (52) - CLEMENTI HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters

FLYING GENIUS began only fairly and then despite being ridden along for some distance in the early stages failed to muster speed.

HARMONY N BLESSED shifted out a short distance after the start and inconvenienced BRILLIANT LIFE.

From a wide barrier, JAZZ STEED was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Despite being ridden along for some distance after the start, WILD WEST WING failed to muster speed.

Making the turn after the 600 Metres, WILD WEST WING, which was racing tight outside GUNNISON, became unbalanced, shifted out abruptly and made the turn awkwardly.

K H Chan (WINE AND WINE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching and passing the 700 Metres as he steadied his mount to obtain cover behind HEART CONQUERED, he permitted WINE AND WINE to shift in when not clear of GUNNISON, resulting in that horse having to be checked away from the heels of WINE AND WINE and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

In the circumstances, K H Chan was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 17 October 2021 and to expire on Thursday, 21 October 2021 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

Rounding the Home Turn, as JAZZ STEED was improving to the outside of GUNNISON, JAZZ STEED was shifted out away from the heels of that horse which shifted to the outside of WINE AND WINE.

JAZZ STEED (A Badel) then shifted out further, resulting in WILD WEST WING being hampered and having to be directed out away from the heels of JAZZ STEED.

A Badel was advised that whilst there was some contribution to this incident by the movement of GUNNISON, nonetheless he was told to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances.

After the race, J Moreira stated that HONG KONG BET was not completely comfortable in its action at any stage of the race.

He said the horse was reluctant to stretch out in the early and middle stages and came under pressure after the 500 Metres.

He said after riding his mount along vigorously rounding the Home Turn, HONG KONG BET commenced to give ground shortly after entering the Straight and then was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of HONG KONG BET immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Before being allowed to race again, HONG KONG BET will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

HARMONY N BLESSED and HEART CONQUERED were sent for sampling.
