Racing Incident Report
Race Three: (779) - SHOUSON HILL HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1400Meters
SPEEDY DRAGON began only fairly and then lost further ground when bumped by WINNING STRIKES which was taken out by HAPPY HOUR.
From the outside barrier, DASHING GRACE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 1200 Metres, WINNING STRIKES was checked when crowded for room inside THE FULL BLOOM which, after getting its head on the side and shifting in away from SEIZE THE SPIRIT (J Moreira), was then taken in marginally by that horse before being corrected.
J Moreira was advised that the Stewards were satisfied that THE FULL BLOOM shifting in and away from SEIZE THE SPIRIT had played a significant role in this incident, however, he was reprimanded and told that he should have corrected his mount sooner than he did on this occasion to prevent THE FULL BLOOM racing tight inside SEIZE THE SPIRIT as that horse shifted in across the running of WINNING STRIKES.
Near the 950 Metres, KWAI CHUNG ELITE and WINNING STRIKES bumped.
Then near the 900 Metres, KWAI CHUNG ELITE raced tight inside WINNING STRIKES which got its head up and shifted in when awkwardly placed close to the heels of THE FULL BLOOM.
Passing the 400 Metres, NOBLE MAN raced tight outside BLAZING PARTNERS which shifted out from behind KELMIMI WINS to obtain clear running.
BLAZING PARTNERS then shifted out and brushed NOBLE MAN passing the 300 Metres and again shifted out under pressure after the 200 Metres.
Throughout the race, THE FULL BLOOM and SEIZE THE SPIRIT travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of NOBLE MAN and WINNING STRIKES immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of SPEEDY DRAGON immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, SPEEDY DRAGON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
FOX CHEUNGER and BLAZING PARTNERS were sent for sampling.

The well-backed Fox Cheunger came with a steady bid after a deep run with cover behind midfield to take control 80m out for the win. He's always a chance at this level and appreciated the wet going. Hit late to jump favourite, Blazing Partners found one too good after hitting the front near the 200m following a box-seat run. He has been racing consistently over this course and distance without winning this season. Punted late, Super Kin ran on steadily from fore of midfield to just overhaul early favourite Seize The Spirit for third. He's not easy to get right but may have appreciated the softer conditions. Seize The Spirit peaked on his run 50m out after looming up as a winning chance 150m out following a four-wide run without cover in midfield. It was a good effort considering the hard run. Kwai Chung Elite made some ground late without menacing from behind midfield. He went OK tackling an extra 200m after a last-start win. Happy Hour was closing with every stride late after settling five back on the fence. It was another typical effort. The Full Bloom couldn't go on with things over the final 150m after a prominent run without cover from a tricky gate. He had an excuse.
