Racing Incident Report
Race Five: (636) - NORMAN CONQUEROR HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1600Meters
MULTIPLE STAR shifted in at the start and bumped TELECOM ELITE.
From wide barriers, COPARTNER ERA, RED IMPACT and LEADING FORTUNE were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Despite being vigorously ridden along for some distance in the early stages, MORE THAN A HORSE failed to muster speed and passing the 1400 Metres was shifted across behind runners.
Passing the 900 Metres, SEIZE THE SPIRIT was left racing wide and without cover.
ROBOT WARRIOR made the turn after the 900 Metres awkwardly.
LEADING FORTUNE was held up when having difficulty obtaining clear running approaching and passing the 300 Metres.
COPARTNER ERA was held up for clear running from rounding the Home Turn until passing the 100 Metres and consequently was not able to be properly tested.
After the 100 Metres, when COPARTNER ERA was shifted to the outside of ULTRA EXPRESS to obtain clear running, DANDY YEARS was taken out onto SEIZE THE SPIRIT which shifted out away from that horse, resulting in RUN RUN GOOD being hampered.
After the race, M Chadwick said that, from the wide barrier, he was instructed to obtain a more forward position today than had been the case and it was hoped that FREE FOAL would be able to be placed in advance of midfield.
He said however that in the early stages he was left racing very wide and due to the circumstances of the race was not able to obtain the intended position.
He said therefore he allowed his mount to go forward after the 1200 Metres and into the lead after the 1000 Metres.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that DANDY YEARS was lame in its left front leg.
Before being allowed to race again, DANDY YEARS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of TELECOM ELITE and SEIZE THE SPIRIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
ULTRA EXPRESS, ROBOT WARRIOR and COPARTNER ERA were sent for sampling.

Favourite Ultra Express responded nicely to take control 150m out after angling just off the fence for a clear run 250m out following a rail run in midfield for a second win from seven starts. He's a very progressive type. Robot Warrior eventually got going near the outside to finish level with Copartner Era for second after being placed under the whip 600m out travelling three deep with cover fifth from the rear. It was a solid effort first-up off a break for his new trainer. Copartner Era ran on well when only gaining a clear run 80m out following a ground-saving run four back. He can produce a big run now and then in this grade. More Than A Horse came from near last to fill a quartet spot. He does appear from his past two starts to be near a bottom. Dandy Years kept on rather onepaced straightening box-seat after handing up the lead to Free Foal 1,000m out. It wasn't a bad effort carrying a big weight. Punted late, Free Foal only lost a placing 50m out after rolling forward three deep to lead 1,000m out. He's still a work in progress but has shown hints of ability in his five starts.
