Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (477) - BOWRINGTON HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
JAZZ STEED and WIND N GRASS brushed at the start.
WIND N GRASS then shifted out, resulting in ROYAL AGILITY racing tight inside MOST WELCOME.
SUNSHINE SUPREME shifted out at the start and bumped WINSTON'S LAD.
JOYFUL UNION and SUNNY LAD bumped on jumping.
Then from wide barriers, JOYFUL UNION and SUNNY LAD were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the 900 Metres, SUNSHINE SUPREME was left racing wide and without cover.
After the 500 Metres, TRIPLE TRIPLE got its head on the side and shifted out away from INNER FLAME.
EXCELLENT CHARIOT, which had been racing behind TRIPLE TRIPLE, improved to be racing inside the heels of that horse.
EXCELLENT CHARIOT then got its head on the side and lay in away from TRIPLE TRIPLE, resulting in MOST WELCOME, which was also inclined to lay in, being crowded for room passing the 400 Metres.
JAZZ STEED, which was following MOST WELCOME, was steadied away from the heels of that horse in consequence and shifted out, resulting in JOYFUL UNION racing tight inside WINSTON'S LAD.
The Stewards were of the opinion that there was no carelessness exhibited by any rider in this incident and accordingly no further action was taken.
After the race, M F Poon stated that he was instructed to attempt to obtain a midfield position on TRIPLE TRIPLE from the outside barrier.
He said after allowing his mount to begin positively, he commenced to shift TRIPLE TRIPLE across to obtain a position closer to the rail in the early stages, however, TRIPLE TRIPLE commenced to travel keenly after the 1100 Metres and he was unable to steady his mount sufficiently to obtain a trailing position behind runners.
He said this resulted in TRIPLE TRIPLE having to race outside the lead and then not finishing off the race in the Straight.
A veterinary inspection of TRIPLE TRIPLE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

WIND N GRASS and JAZZ STEED were sent for sampling.

Favourite Wind N Grass quickened nicely to take control 130m out after a one-off run in midfield to earn a fifth victory on the card for jockey Zac Purton. The horse has been threatening to break through all season long. Punted late, Jazz Steed ran on well after saving ground worse than midfield to just edge Excellent Chariot for second. He continues to race well in his past two of three of starts following an upgrade. Well-backed late, Excellent Chariot stayed on well for a placing after a one-out, one-back run. He's run well in defeat in his past two of three starts following a rise in class. Specked at long odds, Sunshine Supreme kept on reasonably well to finish a non-threatening fourth after a wide without cover run better than midfield. He's naturally improving with racing. Joyful Union made some ground from behind midfield to pick up a minor cheque without menacing the top four. He's struggling to recapture his best form. Inner Flame was gone 150m out after getting pestered for the lead by the late-fancied Triple Triple. He had an excuse but isn't the same horse this season.
