Racing Incident Report
Race Nine: (83) - FAN LAU HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters
SPARKLING KNIGHT was withdrawn on 3.10.20 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore).
Before being allowed to race again, SPARKLING KNIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
On arrival at the Start, BALTIC SUCCESS was found to have a small wound on the left hind cannon.
BALTIC SUCCESS was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that after the necessary consultations the horse was suitable to race.
LIKE THAT lost ground when crowded for room on jumping between FLYING ON THE TURF and SEVEN HEAVENS which shifted in.
Approaching the 900 Metres, GOOD VIEW CLARICO shifted out and made contact with FABULOUS EIGHT.
Passing the 800 Metres, LIKE THAT shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of SEVEN HEAVENS, causing both horses to become unbalanced.
Passing the 400 Metres, PRINCE OF GEMS raced tight outside CRUISING which in turn was shifted out away from the heels of FABULOUS EIGHT.
After the race, B Shinn expressed concern regarding the action of VALIANT DREAM.
He said the horse, which is well-known to him, did not travel as strongly today as it had previously when ridden by him and then failed to finish off the race.
A veterinary inspection of VALIANT DREAM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Before being allowed to race again, VALIANT DREAM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of WAR OF COURAGE and CUE THE MUSIC immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
CRUISING and PRINCE OF GEMS were sent for sampling.
<5/10/2020 Additional Veterinary Report>VALIANT DREAM, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings.
VALIANT DREAM was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer K W Lui this morning.
He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg.
As previously advised, VALIANT DREAM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.

Cruising responded well following a prominent run to get up 50m out for the win in his initial run over the straight 1,000m. He was able to back up a solid 1,200m effort last month. Late-fancied favourite Prince Of Gems closed well from behind midfield to snatch second on the wire from Good View Clarico with money coming for him late. Early favourite Good View Clarico was overhauled late after moving to the front 150m out travelling better than midfield from a low draw. He lost nothing in defeat giving away an edge in fitness to the top two. Fabulous Eight was under pressure and not finding much inside the last 100m after vying for the lead with Baltic Success. Like That closed well from near last in a packed field to earn a payslip after a slow start. It was a good effort following a stable change and he can add to his two Griffin wins from last season. War Of Courage was again not interested. He appears to have gone amiss in his two runs.
