Flying Sword took control 150m out after chasing the leaders one off in third for a first win in his 11th start. He had put the writing on the wall last start at his second run following a stable change to Tony Cruz. Fantastic Show closed well to just grab second after shifting into the clear 400m out following a patient ride fourth from the rear. He continues to add to his fine campaign. Good Beauty just only held on for third over Picken after surging to the front near the 300m stalking the leader Day Day Rich from a wide gate. Picken got within a bob of filling a placing after a deep run towards the rear. He rarely produces a bad run over this trip. Entrusted ran on well from behind midfield to earn a pay slip. He's made a decent impression in his two starts but is still acclimatising and requires a longer trip. Ever Laugh came up on-paced over the final 100m after a midfield run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (757) - ALEXANDRITE HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters

MERRYGOWIN began only fairly.

FANTASTIC SHOW was crowded for room on jumping between SUPERRICH which shifted out and GOOD BEAUTY.

In this incident, FANTASTIC SHOW bumped the hindquarters of GOOD BEAUTY and lost ground.

From wide barriers, PICKEN, NOBLE STEED and NORDIC WARRIOR were all shifted across behind runners to obtain cover in the early stages.

Passing the 1200 Metres, SUPERB DADDY was momentarily crowded by REEL BIZZY which was taken in by FLYING SWORD (K Teetan) which was then directed out to relieve the tightening to SUPERB DADDY and REEL BIZZY.

K Teetan was advised to exercise more care.

Near the 900 Metres, CHARIZARD momentarily raced tight inside EVER LAUGH.

In the early part of the Straight, SUPERB DADDY got its head on the side and lay out.

REEL BIZZY lay in under pressure in the early part of the Straight and passing the 200 Metres shifted in abruptly, requiring its rider to stop riding and straighten that horse.

In this incident, CHARIZARD was inconvenienced.

Close to the finishing line, REEL BIZZY and EVER LAUGH raced tight.

When questioned regarding the performance of SUPERICH, Z Purton stated that after being left racing wide and without cover near the 1000 Metres, SUPERICH did not travel comfortably and came off the bridle prior to the 800 Metres.

He said he had to ride SUPERICH along for some distance after the 800 Metres to prevent being taken wider by ENTRUSTED.

He said SUPERICH then commenced to give ground after the 700 Metres.

He said he continued to ride SUPERICH along rounding the Home Turn, however, the horse continued to give ground whilst making an abnormal breathing noise.

He added at the entrance to the Straight SUPERICH had given ground noticeably and because of this he did not persevere with riding it out in the Straight.

A veterinary inspection of SUPERICH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of SUPERICH, which was eased out of the race over the latter stages, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, SUPERICH will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of MERRYGOWIN and SUPERB DADDY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

FLYING SWORD and FANTASTIC SHOW were sent for sampling.
