Racing Incident Report
Race Eleven: (709) - AMAH ROCK HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200Meters
LUCKY EXPRESS was crowded for room on jumping between LUCKY MORE and BALTIC SUCCESS which shifted out.
ARMANDO began only fairly.
HIGHLY PROACTIVE and PRECIOUS EXPRESS bumped at the start.
From the outside barrier, PRECIOUS EXPRESS was then steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
SPEED VISION and TEAM SPIRIT made contact at the start.
TEAM SPIRIT then became unbalanced after being bumped by SPEED VISION which was taken out by CALIFORNIA WHIP.
When TEAM SPIRIT lost ground, YOO YOO KING, which began only fairly, was steadied away from the heels of that horse.
After this, from a wide barrier, YOO YOO KING was shifted across behind runners.
Because of this, TEAM SPIRIT raced back in the field and subsequently finished tailed out in the Straight.
The performance of TEAM SPIRIT was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, TEAM SPIRIT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Passing the 300 Metres, MR CROISSANT raced tight between LUCKY EXPRESS and LUCKY MORE which was taken out by STRONGER which shifted out marginally before being corrected by its rider.
In this incident, LUCKY EXPRESS became unbalanced after making contact with MR CROISSANT.
Over the concluding stages, LUCKY MORE got its head on the side and lay in under pressure.
For the majority of the race, SPEED VISION travelled wide and without cover.
The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed in as they were of the prima facie view that an incident occurred over the concluding stages which cast sufficient doubt on whether LUCKY EXPRESS should be declared the third placegetter of the race.
Subsequently K Teetan, the rider of the 4th placed, ARMANDO, lodged a protest/objection against LUCKY EXPRESS alleging interference over the concluding stages.
After taking evidence from both parties and after viewing the videos, it was established that at about the 50 Metres ARMANDO was inconvenienced and shifted out away from the heels of LUCKY EXPRESS which shifted out under pressure before being corrected.
Having regard to the neck margin between the horses at the end of the race and the fact that the incident occurred at about the 50 Metres, the Stewards could not be satisfied that had the incident not occurred, ARMANDO would have finished in front of LUCKY EXPRESS.
Therefore the protest/objection was overruled and weighed-in declared on the numbers semaphored by the judge.
Subsequently J Moreira was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
A veterinary inspection of LUCKY MORE immediately following the race found that horse to be making an abnormal breathing noise.
An endoscopic examination was unable to be conducted on LUCKY MORE due to the fractious nature of the horse both prior to and after being sedated.
LUCKY EXPRESS, MR CROISSANT and ALL IN MIND were sent for sampling.

Additional Veterinary Reports from Sha Tin Racemeeting on 27 May 2020 Subsequent official veterinary inspections (without endoscopy) of WINNING BREW, HIDDEN SPIRIT, CURLING LUXURY, THOU SHALL SING, PEARL CHAMPION, KINGS SHIELD, BUDDIES, STRIKING MR C, GUNNAR, BEAUTY LOYAL, GOOD FOR YOU, PARTY EVERYDAY, JADE FORTUNE, UTOPIA LIFE, CALIFORNIA CONCORD, ZERO HEDGE, ENFOLDING and TOUCH OF LUCK revealed no apparent abnormality.

Racing Laboratory tests of HAPPY GOOD GUYS, HERE COMES TED, GOODLUCK GOODLUCK, DIONYSUS COLLIN, PRETTY BAUHINIA, LIGHTNING STEED, FOCUS, EXPLOSIVE WITNESS, CLASSIC UNICORN, BE READY, ARES, BULLISH BROTHER, LUCKY QUALITY, JADE PHOENIX, FLYING BONUS, INTERSTELLAR, GREEN REIGN, MAGNIFICENT, FARSHAD, GOLDEN DASH, CALIFORNIA RAD, AMAZING STAR, SHINING ACE and WINNING METHOD (20.5.20) proved negative.

Mr Croissant ran on well to grab 50m out for the win after barging between runners 200m out following a rail run in midfield. He was fresh and ready following a break and relished a return to his favourite Sha Tin 1,200m. All In Mind was denied late after racing to the lead 150m out following a prominent run on the fence. He's enjoying a good first term. Firming favourite Lucky Express ran on well after a one-off run in midfield to place despite sifting ground late. It was a solid run on debut and he appears to have a bright future. Newcomer Armando just lost a placing when forced wider out close to home with a bold move from behind midfield. It was an eye-catching effort first-up and he too looks a runner with a future. Lucky More came up rather one-paced after copping a bump near the 200m following a one-out, one-back run. Precious Express made some ground late after settling last from a wide gate in a better performance second-up here.
