Favourite Blastoise was ridden as the best horse travelling one off in second behind King's Race, advanced to the front 150m out and edged clear for a first win at his seventh start. Savvy Seven closed strongly to grab second after having to switch underneath Cheerful Leader for a clear run 150m out following a midfield trip. Cheerful Leader stayed on well for third following a prominent run. He's progressing nicely in his three starts and should be scoring soon. Firming late in betting Little General did well to fill the frame after only slotting in with cover in the one-one 800m out from a wide gate. He can bob up at any moment. King's Race grudgingly gave way after getting his own way in front. It wasn't a bad effort with a step up to a mile carrying more weight after a last-start win. Sunshine Warrior got going when the race was all but over. He left things too late travelling three deep fourth from the rear in a leader's dominated race.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (167) - PANASONIC R32 REFRIGERANT AIR-CONDITIONER HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1600Meters

MASTER ROMAN was slow to begin.

KING'S RACE shifted in at the start and bumped BLASTOISE.

SUNSHINE WARRIOR began awkwardly and dipped and then shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of EPTIWINS.

Passing the 900 Metres, AEROFLASH was steadied away from the heels of LITTLE GENERAL (G van Niekerk) which shifted in momentarily when not properly clear.

G van Niekerk was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in future.

SOCKET ELITE, which was following AEROFLASH, was steadied away from the heels of that horse in consequence.

After the 800 Metres, DYNASTA was left racing wide and without cover.

For some distance after the 800 Metres, EPTIWINS raced tight with SOCCER ELITE (N Callan) which attempted to improve between EPTIWINS and AEROFLASH.

When EPTIWINS maintained its position, SOCCER ELITE was checked near the 600 Metres when unable to improve between AEROFLASH and EPTIWINS.

When SOCCER ELITE was checked, PRETTY BAUHINIA, which was following, was checked away from the heels of SOCCER ELITE and shifted out, resulting in CHIU CHOW KID being taken wider.

N Callan was advised that, in the opinion of the Stewards, there was not sufficient room for him to improve between EPTIWINS and AEROFLASH and he was therefore reprimanded and told to ensure that he does not place undue pressure on other runners by attempting to improve his position where there is insufficient room.

Rounding the Home Turn, SAVVY SEVEN was momentarily awkwardly placed behind LITTLE GENERAL and CHEERFUL LEADER.

Then in the early part of the Straight, SAVVY SEVEN was awkwardly placed outside the heels of CHEERFUL LEADER which lay out.

CHEERFUL LEADER then continued to lay out for the remainder of the race.

A veterinary inspection of EPTIWINS, DYNASTA and SOCKET ELITE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

BLASTOISE and SAVVY SEVEN were sent for sampling.
