Firming favourite True Grit just got the bob down over late-fancied Harmony Hero after taking the short route home from behind midfield to ring up a fourth straight win over this trip. Harmony Hero did everything right but get the win after settling nicely one off in midfield. The end difference was Harmony Hero's big weight. My Ally was swamped late after getting his own way in front. It was a good run in defeat after setting a swift pace but he has trouble winning. Tangmere stayed on reasonably well following a handy run to fill a Quartet spot. He did have all favours in the run but has flashed ability at times in his nine starts. Best Alliance made headway late after a patient ride near the rear from a wide gate. He's still trying to acclimatise but does have some raw ability. Cordyceps faded inside the last 150m after working hard from a wide gate to land a spot one off in second at the 1,100m. He had an excuse.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (768) - CHEUNG CHAU HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters

TRAVEL FIRST shifted out at the start and bumped MAGNIFICENT.

HARMONY HERO began only fairly.

From wide barriers, KUNGFUMASTER PANDA, BEST ALLIANCE and MAGNETISM were shifted across behind runners to obtain cover in the early stages.

From a wide barrier, CORDYCEPS was ridden along for a considerable distance in the early stages to cross runners to its inside near the 1000 Metres.

Near the 1300 Metres, ZHAN JIANG ROCKS was momentarily crowded for room inside TRUE GRIT (J Moreira) which shifted in before being directed back out to relieve the tightening to ZHAN JIANG ROCKS.

J Moreira was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Near the 1200 Metres, BEST ALLIANCE travelled keenly and got its head up when awkwardly placed behind LAST KINGDOM.

Approaching the 300 Metres, MAGNIFICENT was struck across the nose by the whip of J Moreira.

Over the concluding stages, MY ALLY raced tight outside TRUE GRIT.

In the Straight, LAST KINGDOM lay in under pressure.

After the race, U Rispoli was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of MAGNIFICENT.

He said the pace of the race in the middle stages did not suit his mount, but nonetheless MAGNIFICENT was disappointing in the manner in which it did not quicken in the early part of the Straight and then did not finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of MAGNIFICENT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of CORDYCEPS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

TRUE GRIT and HARMONY HERO were sent for sampling.

After the running of Race 1, the track classification was officially changed from "Good??to "Good to Firm?? This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.

As a consequence of this, the official results will show Race 1 being run on a track rated "Good to Firm??
