Well-backed Fame And Fortune drew clear after hitting the front 250m out following a handy run on the fence for an overdue win. The booking of Joao Moreira off a light weight was the right move. Favourite Lucky Thought stayed on well to fill the Quinella spot following a prominent run outside the eventual winner in his initial run on the dirt. He still lacks maturity but still has run well to place in his past four of five starts and will be winning races in no time. Viva Council came from midfield to fill a placing 100m out. He's better suited on a fast track. Promise Kept made up heaps of ground down the outside after struggling to stay in touch travelling deep at the tail of the field. He's run well in defeat once on each surface following a host of leg problems. Elite Boy was yielding ground over the final 150m after getting overhauled for the front 250m out. Joyful Contender ran on without menacing from behind midfield after a sluggish start.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (735) - SILVERSTRAND HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

LUCKY THOUGHT began only fairly, then shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of BLOOMING SPIRIT which became unbalanced.

STORM SOLDIER began only fairly and was then crowded for room between ELITE BOY which shifted in and JOYFUL CONTENDER which began awkwardly and lost ground.

Despite being vigorously ridden for a considerable distance in the early stages, PROMISE KEPT failed to muster speed.

Shortly after the start, SPRINT FORWARD was steadied in order to be shifted across behind runners, however, was left racing wide and without cover near the 900 Metres.

Then making the turn near the 700 Metres, SPRINT FORWARD became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by BLOOMING SPIRIT which made the turn awkwardly.

In this incident, BLOOMING SPIRIT also lost ground.

After the 800 Metres, DASHING GAINER was left racing wide and without cover.

Making the turn near the 700 Metres, JOYFUL CONTENDER raced tight outside VIVA COUNCIL which shifted out.

VIVA COUNCIL then got its head on the side and lay out after the 600 Metres.

After initially shifting in to race outside ELITE BOY near the 700 Metres, FORMULA GALORE lay out, resulting in LUCKY THOUGHT improving into tight running inside FORMULA GALORE.

LUCKY THOUGHT then continued to race tight between FAME AND FORTUNE and FORMULA GALORE until after the 500 Metres.

Passing the 250 Metres, VIVA COUNCIL was shifted out away from the heels of FORMULA GALORE to obtain clear running.

Passing the 200 Metres, BLOOMING SPIRIT was shifted in away from the heels of the tiring DASHING GAINER after being awkwardly placed behind that horse.

A veterinary inspection of BLOOMING SPIRIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

FAME AND FORTUNE and LUCKY THOUGHT were sent for sampling.
