Recap by phillip woo

Monica stormed home after a deep run with cover behind midfield to snatch victory from Beauty Loyal for back-to-back runs despite top weight. He's in terrific form but may find it harder up in class. Punted late Beauty Loyal was just denied after poking his head in front 50m out following a one-off run in midfield. He's made a solid impression in backto- back runs following a downgrade. Fun Times was swamped late after reclaiming the lead from Tennessee Boss 350m out facing the breeze throughout up front from a tricky gate. Old-timer Enormous Honour came on strongly widest out after struggling to stay in touch for the most part at the rear to nearly place. He's well rated and can bob up at any moment. Such A Happiness took a shorter route home three off the fence from near last to pick up a pay cheque. He's run with merit twice following a lengthy injury-induced absence. Golden Four ran on without menacing from near the back.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (688) - MR MEDICI HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters

VICTORY SONG and GOLDEN FOUR began only fairly.

TENNESSEE BOSS shifted out at the start and bumped EXCEPTIONAL DESIRE which then shifted out and inconvenienced BEAUTY LOYAL.

From the outside barriers, SUCH A HAPPINESS, GREAT VICTORY and SWEETIE BARLEY were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 1100 Metres, BEAUTY LOYAL and NICE KICK raced in restricted room between EXCEPTIONAL DESIRE which shifted out marginally and FUN TIMES (A Domeyer) which shifted in.

A Domeyer was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Near the 950 Metres, BEAUTY LOYAL, which was being steadied to obtain cover behind EXCEPTIONAL DESIRE, was momentarily awkwardly placed outside the heels of that horse.

Near the 550 Metres, EXCEPTIONAL DESIRE and NICE KICK raced tight.

Throughout the race, WAYFOONG CHARMER travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned regarding the performance of NICE KICK, J Moreira stated that he was able to obtain a good position behind the leaders in the early stages albeit after the 800 Metres NICE KICK was required to race without cover.

He said NICE KICK travelled well until being placed under pressure rounding the Home Turn.

He said NICE KICK did not respond to his riding as he anticipated it would and then over the latter stages was disappointing in its failure to finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of NICE KICK immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, NICE KICK will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that MONICA was displaying signs of thumps.

NICE KICK, MONICA and BEAUTY LOYAL were sent for sampling.
