Recap by phillip woo
Old-timer Triumphant Jewel kept on gamely after hitting the front 200m out travelling on the far side in midfield to ring up a seventh career win. It was a winning debut for both trainer and jockey. Early favourite Victory Power established a reasonable lead at the 350m after vying for the front and found one too good in the end. He's a winner waiting to happen and 1,200m will suit him better. Lightning Steed finished a distant third after making his move at the 600m travelling just outside the eventual winner. Complacency finished well after peeling out for a run inside the 100m, sitting fore of midfield on the stands side in a pleasing first run for his new trainer. He's crying out for a longer trip. Newcomer Happy Tour's condition gave out pressing the pace. He has some ability but requires time and experience. Plunged to jump favourite Super Eighteen retreated 100m out leading narrowly on the grandstand side. He needed the run following health issues.
