Saul's Special kept on gamely for the win after assuming the lead from Nice Fandango 200m out chasing the speed on the stands side. It's taken him a while to put his best foot forward but did put the writing on the wall last time out. Favourite Superich was closing with every stride from beyond midfield on the far side after an awkward start. There's plenty of upside to come and he's crying out for a longer trip. Nice Fandango wouldn't go down without a fight carrying a light weight. He's already had a splendid campaign but might find it harder winning in this grade. Green Card kept up a grinding effort sitting handy in the centre of the track to finish a non-threatening fourth. Newcomer Beauty Loyal gradually faded following a prominent run near the far side. He needed the run. Plunged late Sparkling Dragon only held his ground travelling fore of midfield one from the left. He's better suited in a longer sprint.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (702) - THE HONG KONG UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION CHALLENGE CUP - Class 3 - 1000Meters

SUPER FUN was slow to begin.

SUPERICH began only fairly and shortly after the start was bumped by KA YING LEGEND which shifted in after initially shifting out and bumping BEAUTY LOYAL.

HAPPY TIME shifted out at the start and bumped BEAUTY TIME.

Shortly after the start, C P POWER raced in restricted room between JOY MASTER and GREEN CARD.

Passing the 200 Metres, BEAUTY LOYAL was awkwardly placed outside the heels of SUPERICH which shifted out.

For the majority of the race, NICE FANDANGO raced with its head on the side and lay in.

The performances of VERY LUCKY and BEAUTY TIME, both of which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, VERY LUCKY and BEAUTY TIME will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of KA YING LEGEND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY TIME immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SAUL'S SPECIAL and SUPERICH were sent for sampling.
