Racing Incident Report
Race Six: (645) - TAIPA HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
BEAUTY ENERGY was slow to begin.
WINNING VANGOGH began only fairly.
From a wide barrier, LASTING FRIENDSHIP was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
W L Ho (GAMEPLAYER EMPEROR) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 700 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of GOLDEN SUN, causing that horse to be taken in onto GENEROUS HEART which resulted in GENEROUS HEART being unnecessarily crowded for room and badly hampered.
W L Ho was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 23 May 2018 and to expire on Monday, 28 May 2018 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
Passing the 300 Metres, GENEROUS HEART was shifted to the inside of GAMEPLAYER EMPEROR to obtain clear running.
Passing the 200 Metres, GENEROUS HEART lay in and proved reluctant to shift to the outside of HAPPY METEOR.
Near the 50 Metres, HAPPY METEOR was steadied when crowded for room between GENEROUS HEART which shifted in and BEAUTY ENERGY which, when endeavouring to shift to the outside of WINNING VANGOGH, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse which got its head on the side and shifted out marginally under pressure.
Over the concluding stages, BEAUTY ENERGY was not able to obtain clear running and consequently was not able to be fully tested over the latter stages of the race.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on WINNING VANGOGH at the request of Trainer C S Shum.
The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, WINNING VANGOGH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of GOLDEN SUN and WINNING SUPREME immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
WINNING SUPREME, CHEERFULJET and GAMEPLAYER EMPEROR were sent for sampling.

Punted late Cheerfuljet responded well to win going away 100m out after handing up the lead in his initial run on the surface following a Valley success. Gameplayer Emperor finished well from behind midfield to grab second at a price. It was a solid AWT debut after three progressive turf runs and he isn't far off a win. Lucky Dollar stayed on nicely from midfield to nearly get into the Quinella spot. He can produce a positive run at times. Generous Heart ran on late from beyond midfield to nearly place. He's run well in backto- back runs on this surface but won't have an easy time winning off his current mark. Bleeder Winning Vangogh was stopping 100m out after driving through along the fence to lead at the 900m. He requires rating relief. Well-backed late Burst Away made some ground without menacing travelling worse than midfield. It wasn't a bad effort and he isn't far off a class drop which should help.
