Voyage King held off the late surge of California Joy after moving to the lead 180m out following a handy run on the fence to score at only his fourth start. Specked late California Joy came on strongly near the outside after covering ground fifth from the back to finish a clear-cut second. Invincible Fresh stayed on very well despite being losing ground when getting hampered by the winner travelling midfield at the 1,000m. He might have a win coming. Sonic Fighter left things too late after settling third last from a wide gate. It was a good run in defeat and has more upside. Shamport ran on without menacing after a deep run behind midfield. He's no world beater but has shown enough ability to win a race down the line. Favourite Ultimate Glory came up flat following a one-off run travelling a position inside Shamport. It was an off day by his standards. Big Bang Bong faltered 100m out after slotting one-out, one-back from a wide gate.

Racing Incident Report

Race Ten: (649) - COLOANE HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters

IRON BOY was crowded for room on jumping between SHAMPORT and C P POWER, both of which shifted ground.

CHUNG WAH SPIRIT began awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, GRAN MASER was awkwardly placed inside the heels of DOLLAR REWARD which shifted in.

From a wide barrier, SONIC FIGHTER was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

J Moreira (BIG BANG BONG) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 950 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of VOYAGE KING, resulting in that horse being badly hampered and taken in onto INVINCIBLE FRESH which was severely checked and taken in across the rightful running of CHUNG WAH SPIRIT which was also severely checked.

ULTIMATE GLORY, which was following CHUNG WAH SPIRIT, was severely checked in consequence.

GRAN MASTER, which was following ULTIMATE GLORY, was checked and IRON BOY hampered in consequence.

SONIC FIGHTER was also taken wider by GRAN MASTER when that horse was checked.

J Moreira was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 6 June 2018 and to expire on Monday, 11 June 2018 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

In addition, J Moreira was fined $100,000.

After the 500 Metres, Apprentice C Wong (C P POWER) adjusted his left foot in the stirrup iron.

IRON BOY had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching and passing the 300 Metres and then near the 250 Metres was steadied when attempting to improve into tight running between BIG BANG BONG and INVINCIBLE FRESH.

SONIC FIGHTER had difficulty obtaining clear running until passing the 300 Metres.

Passing the 200 Metres, GRAN MASTER was inconvenienced when steadied away from the heels of CHUNG WAH SPIRIT which shifted out.

Then over the concluding stages, GRAN MASTER was awkwardly placed behind CHUNG WAH SPIRIT.

For the majority of the race, BIG BANG BONG travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that VOYAGE KING had sustained a cut to the left hind fetlock.

A veterinary inspection of BIG BANG BONG and CHUNG WAH SPIRIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

ULTIMATE GLORY, VOYAGE KING and CALIFORNIA JOY were sent for sampling.
