Recap by phillip woo

Tang Fleming was well rated on the lead and just held off the late surges of Travel First and Nuclear Power for a first win at his 14th start. He relished a move to the dirt where he now belongs. Veteran Travel First closed off soundly widest out after travelling fourth from the rear to make it close on the wire. He's back on track and should be far off a winning run on this surface. Nuclear Power make it a blanket finish of three following a prominent run from a tricky gate. He has been itching to score in recent runs. Bank On Red got going without menacing travelling worse than midfield to edge favourite Ultimate Glory for fourth. The former has likely hit his mark. Ultimate Glory came to win the race at the 200m after easing back to settle nicely one off in midfield but came up flat in the last 100m. Gonna Run ran on steadily without menacing from beyond midfield. He's unpredictable but can pop up at any time off his current mark.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (410) - DUNDAS HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters

STAR OF YAN OI began only fairly.

TANG FLEMING shifted out at the start and hampered GOODHEART SUCCESS.

ULTIMATE GLORY shifted out at the start and bumped TRAVEL FIRST which became unbalanced.

After this, TRAVEL FIRST was vigorously ridden, however, failed to muster speed.

From the outside barrier, RIGHTEOUS MATE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

At the entrance to the Straight, NUCLEAR POWER was awkwardly placed inside the heels of ULTIMATE GLORY.

Near the 100 Metres, GOODHEART SUCCESS was shifted to the outside of EXPERTO CREDE after being held up for clear running behind that horse.

Passing the 100 Metres, BANK ON RED was shifted to the outside of TRAVEL FIRST after being disappointed for running between that horse, which had its head on the side and was laying in, and NUCLEAR POWER (Apprentice M F Poon) which shifted out under pressure.

Apprentice Poon was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out.

Approaching the 50 Metres, ULTIMATE GLORY was momentarily steadied away from the heels of TANG FLEMING (Apprentice H T Mo) which shifted out under pressure.

Apprentice Mo was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to keep his mounts straight.

When questioned, N Rawiller (GONNA RUN) stated that passing the 1000 Metres his mount came under heavy pressure and he was obliged to ride it vigorously after the 900 Metres in order to maintain its position behind BANK ON RED.

He said at this time GONNA RUN got its head on the side and lay in and, despite being ridden along, he was unable to prevent TRAVEL FIRST, which was racing to his outside, from shifting in.

He said he had a number of looks down at GONNA RUN to ensure that there was nothing amiss with the horse as it had come off the bridle noticeably at this time.

He said it was not until making the turn after the 700 Metres that GONNA RUN commenced to travel more comfortably and then for the remainder of the race did not present him with any concerns.

A veterinary inspection of GONNA RUN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of STAR OF YAN OI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

As this was the second occasion since November 2017 that STAR OF YAN OI had finished tailed out in its races, the Stewards ruled that the horse must undergo a series of satisfactory consecutive barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.

ULTIMATE GLORY, TANG FLEMING and TRAVEL FIRST were sent for sampling.
