Recap by phillip woo

Punted late Hair Trigger came with a ducking-and-weaving run after travelling third from the rear to mow down the favourite Money Boy in the final few metres for the win. The summer break appears to have done him a world of good and hopefully he can add to this effort. Money Boy poked his head in front 120m out after chasing the leaders and was collared late. He's honest and it's only a matter of time before he strikes again. Saul's Special briefly hit the front 150m out travelling handy on the far side and only succumbed in the final few metres carrying equal top-weight. He lived up to a smart trial and looks like he can get away with a sprint soon on either surface. Beauty Master ran his usual honest race over this Sha Tin trip after vying for the lead but doesn't have much upside to come. Sunny Dragon made some ground from behind midfield. He needs a longer trip. Favourite Fairy Twins was stopping 200m out after sharing the lead in his first run following throat surgery.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (7) - COTTON TREE HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters

SWEETIE BARLEY was inconvenienced at the start when crowded for room between BEAUTY MASTER and FAIRY TWINS, both of which shifted ground.

RADIANT TREASURE and WINNERS PIONEER bumped at the start.

After the 800 Metres, WINNING SUPREME got its head on the side and lost ground when reluctant to maintain its position outside ROCKY MALONE.

Then passing the 700 Metres, WINNING SUPREME, which continued to be reluctant to hold its position, became badly unbalanced and near the 600 Metres lost a considerable amount of ground when checked of its own accord outside WINNING VANGOGH.

The racing manners of WINNING SUPREME were considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, WINNING SUPREME will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of FAIRY TWINS, J Moreira stated that it had been intended for FAIRY TWINS to be ridden behind the speed if possible.

He said FAIRY TWINS began very well and therefore he took advantage of the manner in which the horse began and shifted FAIRY TWINS across towards the outside rail which resulted in it having to lead.

He said whilst he had to make some use of FAIRY TWINS to do so, he was able to cross runners to his outside prior to the 900 Metres and then was not required to make any further use of the horse.

He said when BEAUTY MASTER improved to be racing to the inside of FAIRY TWINS, FAIRY TWINS would not relax and because of this the horse was then not able to finish off the race.

He said whilst there were some circumstances which may have explained the reason for FAIRY TWINS not being able to close off the race, nonetheless it was concerning to him that, after being placed under pressure, FAIRY TWINS gave ground noticeably over the final 150 Metres and then pulled up very quickly passing the winning post.

A veterinary inspection of FAIRY TWINS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of FAIRY TWINS was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, FAIRY TWINS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of ROCKY MALONE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

FAIRY TWINS, HAIR TRIGGER and MONEY BOY were sent for sampling.

<4/9/2017 Additional Veterinary Report>ROCKY MALONE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings.

ROCKY MALONE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C S Shum this morning.

He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left hind leg.

Before being allowed to race again, ROCKY MALONE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
