Recap by phillip woo

Punted late, Red Kylin was given a lovely ride in the box-seat spot by Karis Teetan, dashed to the front 50m out and just held off Amazing for a second win from 21 total starts. He's honest and had put the writing on the wall with placings in two prior starts following a break. Amazing finished well following a handy run to make it close on the wire. He's caught the eye with placings in three of four starts and will be winning shortly. Post-time favourite Healthy Luck grudgingly gave way after working to the front 1,050m out. He's racing well and just found a couple better on the day. Dr Listening finished strongly after travelling fourth from the rear to fill a Quartet spot in a solid effort following a stable change. He's always flashed potential and hopefully this is a sign of better things to come. Early favourite Resplendent Glory couldn't close off as expected following a one-off run settling worse than midfield following a slow break in his first run at this level following two easy Class Four wins. He's still lightly-raced and has room for improvement. General Iron made good ground late after peeling into the open at the 220m following a switched off ride from a wide gate. He's naturally returning to form after being sidelined over a year with tendon problems.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (713)-VIOLET HILL HANDICAP (Sec2) - Class 3 - 1200Metres

LOADED shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of AMAZING, resulting in LOADED being hampered and losing ground.

From a wide barrier, GENERAL IRON was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

Also in the early stages, DR LISTENING was steadied to obtain cover.

At the entrance to the Straight, TRUMP raced tight outside RESPLENDENT GLORY.

Passing the winning post, RED KYLIN and AMAZING bumped.

Throughout the race, FULL GLAMOUR travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.

When questioned, C Schofield stated that he had been asked to ride RESPLENDENT GLORY in about a midfield position with cover, similarly to the manner in which it was ridden at its first start this season when successful.

He said on that occasion RESPLENDENT GLORY had shown a very good turn of foot in the Straight which the horse had repeated at its most recent start when able to take up a position behind the leaders from an inside barrier.

He said tonight, from barrier 9, it was felt that if RESPLENDENT GLORY were to be ridden along in the early stages to take up a forward position, the horse may be left racing wide and without cover and it was felt that if the horse showed the same turn of foot as it did at its two most recent starts, the horse would be able to perform well from about a midfield position.

He said although RESPLENDENT GLORY turned its head to the left just prior to the start being effected which resulted in the horse beginning only fairly, RESPLENDENT GLORY was able to quickly make up ground and was then able to obtain the position in midfield following AMAZING.

He said RESPLENDENT GLORY travelled very well in the early and middle stages, however, when shifted to the outside of AMAZING after the 400 Metres, did not quicken as it did at its last two starts and was not able to make ground quickly to the outside of AMAZING.

He added, despite being placed under heavy pressure in the Straight, RESPLENDENT GLORY was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of RESPLENDENT GLORY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

HEALTHY LUCK, REDS KYLIN and AMAZING were sent for sampling.
