Favourite Shamal was on his tippy toes late after establishing a decent margin on the lead coming to the home bend but had enough left to hold off Right Call for a second straight win despite a return to Class Three. He makes his own luck up front and in the right sort of race again, he won't be easy to run down. Right Call was roused up from a wide gate to sit second one off the fence and kept on well to make it close in the end. He's hit a purple patch of form and remains one to keep safe next start over the 1,200m or 1,400m. Tang Fleming stayed on better following a prominent run along the fence to fill a placing. He had disappointed after placing early on but hopefully this is a turning point. Lang Tai Sing rallied near the inside to just miss a placing following a one-off run in midfield. He hasn't been far off the finish in a number of runs after a second-up win off a mark of 67 and can pop up at any time. Vara Pearl was getting going late down the outside from the back. He continues to be a nice money spinner for connections without winning but his consistency keeps him in a narrow ratings band. Hair Trigger was getting going late without menacing after travelling fourth from the rear.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (556)-DONGCHENG DISTRICT HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Metres

AGILITY HERO was withdrawn on 8.4.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (sore left fore tendon) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter PLAY IT (Z Purton).

Before being allowed to race again, AGILITY HERO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

SANGRIA and PLAY IT began only fairly.

From wide barriers, HAIR TRIGGER and CLASSIER were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After initially racing tight inside LANG TAI SING, SUPER LEADER was crowded for room near the 1000 Metres inside LANG TAI SING which was awkwardly placed inside the heels of WAH MAY BABY which shifted in before subsequently racing tight inside SUNSHINE UNIVERSE which for the majority of the race travelled wide and without cover.

Passing the 1000 Metres, SANGRIA was awkwardly placed close to the heels of VARA PEARL.

A veterinary inspection of SUNSHINE UNIVERSE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SHAMAL and RIGHT CALL were sent for sampling.
