Recap by phillip woo

Hammered late in betting, Day Day Victory travelled one off in midfield before switching out for a clear run approaching the final bend and quickening nicely with three wider out to take control 30m out for a first win at his 13 starts. He appreciated a return to the Valley 1,000m of a third in January. Ragnarr finished strongly through the middle to make it close on the wire after making his run fourth last from a tricky gate. He's a winner waiting to happen after filling the frame in his past three runs following a downgrade. Punted late Ace Talent wouldn't go down without a fight after dictating the pace from gate 12. It was a better effort on his past few starts. Patch Of Watch just failed near the outside to grab third after a one-off trip from behind midfield. It was another genuine effort on the back of three solid performances on dirt. Camp Fire came up one-paced after a box-seat run. It was an improved effort with a return to turf after showing little a start earlier on dirt at his first run in Class Five. Favourite Diamond Soars only held his ground ridden midfield on the fence following a sluggish start.

Racing Incident Report

Race One : (592) - ASTER HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1000Meters

Horse No 1 NOTTHESILLYONE (J383) L Hewitson On jumping was crowded between SOLAR UP and URBAN TRIUMPH which shifted out.

After the event, L Hewitson stated that despite being crowded at the start the instructions were to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages from a wide barrier.

Horse No 2 SPICY SO SMART (G203) A Hamelin L Ferraris (ACE TALENT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of SPICY SO SMART, resulting in SPICY SO SMART losing its rightful running and having to be steadied to avoid ACE TALENT.

L Ferraris was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 30 April 2025 at Happy Valley.

In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his very good race riding record.
