US President Joe Biden spoke about strengthening democracy at the Summit of the Americas taking place in Los Angeles from June 6 to June 10. As Biden unveiled a series of initiatives involving Latin America and the Caribbean, he largely avoided comparing them to China’s Belt and Road Initiative or Beijing’s outsize trading presence.
