The Colombian Navy has discovered two new historical shipwrecks near the site of an earlier find several years ago. Dubbed the “Holy Grail of shipwrecks,” the San José galleon, which was discovered in 2015, sank near the port of Cartagena in 1708. The newly unearthed shipwrecks include a Spanish colonial-era boat and a 200-year-old ship from Colombia's war of independence from Spain. The San José galleon was said to carry treasures valued at some US$17 billion. Colombian authorities are now working to salvage the latest discoveries and their content.
