Rescue under way for 3 miners trapped in Ecuador gold mine

Three miners have been trapped since October 23, 2022, in the La Compañía Minera Florida del Señor de Roma mine in Zaruma, Ecuador. According to the state-run National Risk Management Service (SNGRE), water and rocky materials slid to a depth of 120 metres (393ft), where the three miners were. The land surrounding Zaruma in the coastal province of El Oro is rich in gold.
