Hong Kong restarts high-speed rail link service with mainland China after 3-year suspension

The first high-speed train from Hong Kong to mainland China departed on the morning of January 15, 2023, after the resumption of service following a three-year suspension because of Covid. Launched in 2018, the rail link stopped operating in late January 2020 as Hong Kong closed most of its border crossings to the mainland at the start of the pandemic.
