Hong Kong is hosting a world-class snooker tournament: here’s what you need to know

Hong Kong expects to see sell-out crowds as it hosts snooker’s World Grand Prix from March 4-9, 2025, at the newly constructed Kai Tak Sports Park. The event is snooker’s first ranking tournament to be held in the city since 1989. It will welcome the world’s leading 32 players, including Ronnie “The Rocket” O’Sullivan from the UK – a seven-time world champ. Ahead of the competition, Post reporter Lars Hamer explores what changes Hong Kong’s sports landscape can expect, and an introductory lesson for those who know little to nothing about snooker.
