Hong Kong commemorated the 72nd National Day of China with a flag-raising ceremony at Golden Bauhinia Square in the city’s Wan Chai district. An area around the square was cordoned off by the deployment of an estimated 8,000 police officers. Members of the police Counter Terrorism Response Unit and Special Tactical Squad also patrolled Hong Kong streets throughout the day.
