Exiled former lawmaker Ted Hui ‘lied to courts’, says Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam defending banks

Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor has accused former lawmaker Ted Hui of lying to Hong Kong courts over his reasons for leaving the city while on bail. Speaking at a press conference on December 8, 2020, Lam was commenting on Hui announcing he has gone into self-imposed exile in the UK after facing a raft of criminal charges stemming from 2019 anti-government protests in Hong Kong. Hui and his family’s bank accounts have also been frozen by Hong Kong police who accused him of misappropriating money from a crowdfunding campaign.
