Chinese swimming star Sun Yang clinched a gold medal at a domestic competition on August 25, 2024. It was his first time competing after a nearly 4.5 year competition suspension. Sun won the men’s 400 metres freestyle at the National Summer Swimming Championship, representing his hometown Zhejiang. The triple Olympic gold medallist was barred from competing in late February 2020, after refusing to take an anti-doping test in 2018.
