China’s top political advisory body, the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) convened its annual meeting in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on March 4, 2025. President Xi Jinping and other Chinese leaders attended the opening meeting. The CPPCC, along with the meeting of China’s parliament, the National People’s Congress, are known as the “two sessions”. The annual gatherings will see China’s power brokers discuss and approve policy plans aimed at guiding the country’s economy, military, trade, diplomacy, environmental management and other strategic areas.
