The National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), concluded its seven-day annual meeting on March 10, 2021.
Committee Chairman Wang Yang urged officials to more closely unite with President Xi Jinping, during the rest of the year, as the Chinese Communist Party celebrates its 100th anniversary. In a nod to the lunar calendar Year of the Ox, Wang called on the political advisory body to carry forward in a spirit reflecting the creature’s three characteristics: hard work, persistence and compassion. The other major annual political gathering in Beijing, the National People’s Congress (NPC), will wrap up on March 11, bringing the 2021 “two sessions” to a conclusion.
