China’s Chang’e 5 makes lunar touchdown, collects rocks and soil on the moon

China successfully guided its Chang’e 5 spacecraft lander and ascender vehicle on the surface of the moon late on December 1, 2020. After touching down at a designated location, the probe completed drilling to gather samples of lunar soil early on December 2, according to the China National Space Administration.
