At least six tourists in Laos are dead in what authorities suspect were alcohol poisoning cases. Among the victims were two Australian teenagers, who fell ill after a night out drinking with a group in the town of Vang Vieng. Authorities believe the victims consumed drinks tainted with methanol, which is sometimes used as alcohol in mixed drinks at disreputable bars. Methanol can cause severe poisoning and death.
