Dozens of stranded Hong Kong tourists in the Japanese island of Okinawa have sought help from Hong Kong’s Immigration Department after Typhoon Khanun caused widespread travel and power disruptions in the prefecture. Video taken by a Hong Kong traveller stranded in Okinawa shows heavy rain lashing the island. The Hong Kong government said on August 3, 2023, that the residents were reported to be safe. The typhoon also disrupted two Hong Kong Airlines flights that were rescheduled to fly out of Okinawa on August 3.
