Japan's Mount Fuji remained snowless as of November 5, 2024, the latest date that its majestic slopes have been bare since records were first kept 130 years ago. Japan’s meteorological agency said the volcano's snowcap on average begins forming on October 2, and last year’s first snow was detected on October 5. Weather forecasters said that amid this year’s warm weather, snow is not expected to accumulate on Japan’s highest mountain until early November.
