The US, Japan and South Korea announced they have formed a new panel to monitor North Korean activity on October 16, 2024. It followed a veto by Russia to renew a United Nations panel monitoring international sanctions on North Korea. The new group is expected to enforce sanctions imposed on Pyongyang over its nuclear and missile programmes. Eight other countries, including Britain, France and Germany, have agreed to be part of the Multilateral Sanctions Monitoring Team.
