The financial services app Toss has gained popularity in South Korea since launching its cash-giving feature in January 2023. Users are rewarded monetary payments of up to 10 US cents for finishing such tasks as walking 10,000 steps a day and tapping on the phone app when other users are nearby. Toss’ popularity comes as the country is grappling with soaring inflation and high youth unemployment.
