Families of victims of the recent Jeju Air crash in South Korea called for the government to recover bodies faster on December 30, 2024. They made the demand one day after all but two of the 181 passengers and crew on board flight 7C2216 were killed when the jet belly-landed and skidded off the end of the runway at Muan International Airport. The aircraft erupted in a fireball as it slammed into a wall. Investigators said members of the national forensic team are struggling as they scour the wreckage for traces of human remains. The leader of the South Korean opposition Democratic Party, Lee Jae-myung, offered condolences to grieving families at the airport.
